I am the owner/operator of Stubb Safe & Vault, located in the Toronto area, Ontario — Canada.

I have been a locksmith since 1986, but changed the primary focus of my business to the Safe & Vault industry in 1999, shortly after achieving the designation of Certified Master Safecracker (CMS) from the National Safeman’s Organization (NSO).

My business involves the opening, service and repair of most safes — fire safes, commercial burglary safes, gun safes, ATM/CDU’s, depository safes, record vaults, high security safes and bank vaults.

I provide service, primarily for the banking and commercial industry and specialize in hard-to-open safes. I am factory trained by LaGard Inc., the leader in electronic safe locks, and stock most of their product line for quick replacement when needed.

My company also produces specialty tools and provides training for technicians within the industry, via “Simply Safes” safe opening seminars.

I primarily work in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), but provide service south to Windsor, North to North Bay and from the East shores of Lake Huron straight through to the borders of Quebec. Really, anywhere in Ontario SOUTH of North Bay.  Check out my service area map.

 

I have always been fascinated with computers & electronics and have learned many skills over the years, from hardware building to software / firmware progreamming.  For the past few years I have been able to use these acquired skills to offer more to my customers.  As such, I now provide prototyping / R&D services that include, but are not limited to;

Stubb Safe & Vault

Owner / Certified Master Safecracker – October 1999 – present (18+ years)

  • Primary Engineer responsible for all aspects of day-to-day business.
  • Focus has shifted primarily to contract work for safe manufacturers and corporate clients.
  • Open, repair, service of all major safe manufacturers products.
  • Logistics officer for corporate contract work.
  • Perfect driving record, 60,000+ KMS per year, no accidents or tickets.

 

Canadian Association of Professional Safemen (C.A.P.S.)

President – October 1999 – December 2000 (1 year, 3 months)

  • Started the Canadian Association of Professional Safemen (C.A.P.S.).
  • Also started the publication “The Safeman’s Journal” at the same time.
  • The association, and publication, were run for one year before having to close due to lack of support.

 

Mayday Lock & Safe

Locksmith / Safe Engineer – October 1989 – October 1999 (10 years)

  • Primary engineer / manager for retail Lock & Safe business.
  • Was responsible for running the day-to-day operations of the business.
  • Residential / commercial locksmithing
  • Automotive service & key generation
  • Safe & Vault service, opening / repair
  • Bought the company in 1999
  • Changed the name to Stubb Safe & Vault (see above)

 

Mayday Academy of Locksmithing

Instructor – 1996 – 1999 (3 years)

  • Instructor to teach the various aspects of locksmithing.
  • Taught for 3 consecutive terms before the business was closed (owner retired)
  • Topics included basic locksmithing, masterkeying, automotive opening and service, safe opening and service as well as shop management.

 

Ancaster Mountain Lock Service

Locksmith – June 1986 – August 1989 (3 years, 2 months)

  • Locksmith for retail Lock Service company.
  • Primary focus was residential work, with some commercial.
  • Was responsible for running after hours and weekend/holiday calls.
